Lyrics

Spoonful of sugar makes the shit go down

But tell me who are you when there's no one around
The cheering of the crowd is my favorite sound
But tell me who am I when the curtains come down

Begging your daddy for a dollar bill
While others took their daughters down snowy hills
But now I find a daddy in the guys I meet
Who walk me home and hold my hair in the street

But you're so pretty
Give me what I need
Just hold still
I'll be sweet
I'll be sweet
I'll be sweet
I'll be

Clutching onto rosaries
Smoking cigarettes
My national anthem
You know it is regret
The captain of the football team
His eyes are like a laser beam
Laying in bed
Praying to the dead

But you're so pretty
Give me what I need
Just hold still
I'll be sweet
I'll be sweet
I'll be sweet
I'll be

Just like candy

Spoonful of sugar makes the shit go down
Who are you when there's no one around
Cheering of the crowd it's my favorite sound
Who am I when the curtains come down
Who is your superhero now

Presley Cash, on creating an original song for a production—

“I am so honored to be part of a production where I really resonate with the story and believe in the message. When I was asked to write music for Sugar & Sh** I was so excited to play around with concepts such as feminism, courage, and expressing yourself. I was also really intrigued to explore the darker side of the production. The attention craving, the suppression we as women face, the daddy issues that just don't seem to go away but rather grow stronger with time. I truly felt I could run wild with this story and this song. I remember being on FaceTime with Lori and Lenny, the brains behind this masterpiece, and just saying "A Spoonful Of Sugar Makes The Shit Go Down." The rest is history. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I enjoyed creating it. I'd like to give a huge MASSIVE REALLY BIG shoutout to my friend in Ottawa Beau Whitfield who co-produced this record with me, went above and beyond my wildest expectations and stayed up all night to get it finished. Couldn't have done it without you.”
